Free DFM Check

Why Choose Our Free PCB DFM Check Service?

Deciding between an 8-layer buried via PCB or a standard 10-layer stackup? Unsure if your trace width meets production standards? These are common challenges in complex PCB projects.

At CtrlPCB, we provide a Free PCB DFM Check (Design for Manufacturability) to eliminate these uncertainties. Whether you are in the early design phase or ready for mass production, our engineering team is here to help—completely free of charge.

What is a PCB DFM Check?

As a value-added service for our PCB fabrication and assembly clients, we offer a comprehensive PCB file check. We analyze your custom circuit board design files (Gerbers) to identify potential issues that could affect manufacturability, yield, or cost.

If any defects are detected, our CAM engineers will contact you immediately with a solution. This proactive step prevents costly delays and ensures a “Zero-Defect” production run.

Our 5-Point DFM Analysis Process

Our Free DFM Check covers 5 critical aspects of your PCB design. Read below for details on how we ensure your board is ready for the assembly line.

1. Drill Checks

We perform rigorous checks on all drill layers to prevent mechanical failures.

  • Scope: Through-holes, buried vias, and blind vias.

  • Analysis: We verify aspect ratios, hole-to-copper clearance, and drill positioning against the drill stack and adjacent power/ground layers.

  • Goal: To eliminate breakout and ensure reliable connectivity.

2. Signal and Mixed Layer Checks

Signal integrity is key to performance. Our system scans signal and mixed layers for geometry errors.

  • Scope: All signal routing layers.

  • Analysis: We check for minimum trace width, spacing violations, and isolated copper that may peel off.

  • Goal: To ensure your design meets our factory’s etching and routing capabilities.

3. Power/Ground Checks

Stable power delivery is essential. We use advanced algorithms to diagnose both negative and positive planes.

  • Scope: Power, ground, and mixed internal layers.

  • Analysis: We look for short circuits, isolated thermal reliefs, and insufficient clearance that could cause arching.

  • Goal: To guarantee electrical safety and robust power distribution.

4. Solder Mask Checks

  • Scope: Top and bottom solder mask layers.

  • Analysis: We check for solder mask bridges, clearance around pads (solder dam), and coverage over vias.

  • Goal: To prevent solder bridges during the SMT assembly process.

5. Silkscreen Checks

  • Scope: Top and bottom overlay (legend) layers.

  • Analysis: We ensure silkscreen text does not overlap with solder pads or drill holes.

  • Goal: To ensure component designators are legible and do not interfere with soldering.
